    Twenty mining operations have been recognized for outstanding 2005 safety records in the annual Sentinels of Safety awards program.

    An area manager and I were examining the head pulley of belt at a large stone quarry where the equipment, catwalks and ground were covered with ice and snow. I said, "This looks pretty good." The area manager responded, "If this looks good, you don't know what you are looking at." Never mind the fact that we should not have been up there in that weather in the first place.
